#LadiesFirst2019 Challenge

2018 was an amazing year for horror fiction (after all, we formed! *cheeky grin*) even if it was collectively a bit of a dumpster fire.  We know that 2019 is going to be better on all counts. Not only are there lots of indie horror authors that have some great titles lined up for release, but we’re seeing more and more women in horror stepping into the limelight as well. (If names like Sara Tantlinger, Gwendolyn Kiste, and Sarah Read aren’t on your radar yet, they will be soon.)

Anyways, we here at Ladies of Horror Fiction collectively decided to make our fist read of the year a LOHF read. We would love for the entire LOHF community to join in.

Your mission should you choose to accept it:

Choose a LOHF book for your first read of the year. Use the #ladiesfirst2019  hashtag on your Twitter and Instagram with a picture of your LOHF first read of the year.

Here are a few of our picks for our first reads of the year:

Emily From Book Happy: Fortune Box by Madeline Swann

Laurie From Barks Book Nonsense: The Rust Maidens by Gwendolyn Kiste

Tracy From Sci-Fi and Scary: Love for Slaughter by Sara Tantlinger

Cat From Red Lace Reviews: The Rust Maidens By Gwendolyn Kiste

Jen, Lilyn, and Toni: Are going to be reading Zombieville by C.V. Hunt. They are going to be reading as a one day #BansheeRead. If you want to join in let us know!!

Zombieville: Chris is your friendly neighborhood zombie. He has desires and hungers just like the rest of the undead, which is convenient since his brother, Spencer, is the village mortician. There’s just one problem: Spencer has met a girl. There’s no winning for Chris. If things go well with the girl, Spencer is going to neglect him. If things go poorly, the consequences could be very far reaching. What’s a zombie to do?

So, will you accept our challenge and make your first book of the 2019 a read from one of the many, talented ladies of horror fiction?
